Extraordinary cautions were takes in the Divorce Court by the president to protect a wife who said. she feared the threats of her busband. She was allowed to write her address! so that it should not be made public, and after the case was over, the husband, who was in court, but did not defend the action, was directed to remain in court while the wife and her daughters left.
The lady was Mrs. Jane Naish &cd she petitioned for a judicial separa-
tion.
Shortly after she left him, said Mr. Willie, her counsel, he wrote to her solicitor:-
"If my wife does not return to me I shall most certainly put a ballet through her; but, at the same time. I ¦ shall not try to kill bar. for the child's sake."

At the rising of the court he left without further remark from the judge.
