LETTERS OF DEATH.
THIRD VICTIM OF FRENCH MYSTERY.
A third tragic sequel to the my- σετίους anonymous letters of Tulle
in the Department of Correze, which hare pozzled the French police and public opinion for many months has occurred.
ין
Mile. Laval, the young woman who had been accused as one of the prin cipal writers of these scurrilous let- ters, was seen by some peasants struggling in the middle of a pond at Gimel, about five miles from Tulie.
She was rescued with some diffi- rally, and stated that her mother was still in the water. After several bours search the lifeless body of Mme. Laval was found. Mile Laval states that she and her mother, in face of the accusation against her, had decided to commit suicide.
The anonymous letters bave con tained serious allegations against members of the families to which they were addressed. The lettera were sometimes signed “Tiger Eye.”
