ROBBING THE BOOKMAKTE.

INTERESTING LEGAL DECISION.

LONDON, April 5. Justice Astbury has decided that the trustee in bankruptcy is unable to Bles-cover from a Brighton bookmaker £950 paid by cheque by the bankrupt to meet betting losses. The action is one of fire brought by the trustees who desire it to be regarded as a test case. Justice Astbary said the ordinary. litigant was entitled to judgment under the House of Lords decision in the case of Sutter versus Briggs, but the plaintiff was's Court officer, subject to. the discretion of the court. It would be disastrous to the administration of justice if the Courts allowed their offices o transgress the elementary prin- ciples of fair and honest dealing. There was no provision under the Bank- ruptcy Act entitling the trustees to rob bookmakers. He ordered a stay of proceedings and granted leave to appeal.

And that the Time of War, Will ne'er come again, And that Peace will always Reign, And Nations dwell in Unity, And that God will Bless Thee For ever and Aye.
