Still another expedition is being organized to aid in the work of Mr. A. de G. Sowerby and others in get- ting reliable information of the lesser known regions of China. This time it is & veteran who is coming into the field, for Professor J. W. Gregory who proposes to explore the moon-ME. Bi Ghugh tsinous borderland of Yunnan and Szechuan, with his son as his only European companion, is how in his 58th year. It is rather an ambitious thing to attempt, but it is quite in {line with what Professor Gregory has been doing all through his life since he came to years of manhood.

SOME FINE ICHIEVEMENTS.

Although the Professor has been occupied with the Chair of Geology at Glasgow University since 1904 and before that held a similar position in Melbourne University and earlier still war an assistant in the Geological Department of the British Museum, he has nevertheless found opportuni ties whilst engaged on these duties to carry out expeditions to many and widely separated parts of the world.
