In order to reorganize and reinforce its European fleet, the NY.K. has. «** officially announced its decision to remove the four large steamers "Fushimi Maru," "Sawa Marc," Kashima Marn." all over 10,000 tons, from th Pacific and to add them to the Yckobama London and Antwerp service. With the operation of these steamers on the line. in addition to the new Ener Hakone Marn," which began its service last November, and the "Haruna Marn” and "Hatozaki-Haru" which are shortly to be commissioned a uniformTM schedule will be maintained with leven steamers of similar size and capacity, affording greater COD- venience and facilities to shippers and The the general travelling public. four steamers to be taken off the Facilc were originally built to serve the European line, bat during the.. time of the submarine m-asce in the war, the N.Y.E transferred them to the safer North American route in order to protect them from that danger. It was the original intention of the company to restore the tips to the European line immediately the war terminated, bat it could wor carried out until now.

With the shifting of the four large steamers from the Pacifi, the "Yo- kohama Maru," "Shīdzucka Maru,” "Iyo Maru" and "Kags Haru" will take their place and maintain the North American line. All these vessels will be completely remodelled as Trans-Pacific liners to carry only two classes of passengers, namely, first and third classes. The NYE plans to reconstruct their second sad; third class accommodation into third class, with a view to giving third class passengers greater comfort and convenience, erán up to the standard of second class, and that at a r markably low charge.
