RUSSIAN FAMING HOROR

TRANSPORT TRAGICALLY INADEQUATE.

LONDON, February 20. In the House of Commons at question time, dir Phil'p Lloyd Greame additional Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs, said he was not able to give reliable 6gures with regard to the number affected by the famine in Russia or who has died of starvation but undoubtedly the situation in some parts of the famine was very dangerous. He mentioned that Sir Benjamin Robertson, the famine expert, had expressed the opinion that owing to the inadequacy of Russian transport no more imports of foodstuffs than had already been arranged to the middle of April could be dealt with. No British relief had been diverted to feed the Bolshevist army or maintain the Soviet Government and as far as the Government was aware this also applied to j contributions from other countries.
