In connection with the armed robbery committed in a Yaumati pawnshop on Monday night, two Chi- nese were charged before Magistrate Wood this morning with having parti- cipated with others not in custody; in the hold-up.
It was stated in Court that acting O information received, the police last night raided No. 5, Tingloy Street, Hongkong, and there arrested the defendants. In the house was found a part of the $19,380 worth of jewellery stolen from the shop.
As the result of certain statements made by the defendants, Chinese Constable No. 174, Cheong Tai was arrested the came night. He was charged with having aided a. abetted the defendants, and With having commanded them to commit the robbery.
All three defendants were remanded until next Friday.
