DEADLOCK POSITION.

The seamen's strike leverted this morning to the position from which it started. Last night, the ship ping companies, through the S.C.A., notified their decision to cancel the offer o inerrased rates they inade on Tuesday. The men retaliated this mojning by cancelling their reduced demand and going back to their original one of a 40% increase for xnen recriving less than $30 and a 20%, inercase for the others.
Speaking to a China Mail reporter over the telephone at 2.30 this after Boon Mr. Hallifax said that there was nothing fresh to report. The Union representatives bad not yet been up to see him but he was hoping to bear
