INTERPORT GOLF.
BOME SHANGHAI NOTES.
The following is from the N.-C. Daily News auon the forthcoming visit of the Shanghai Interpart Golf team to Hongkong:-
This month the Shanghai Golf Club is to make another attempt to bring back the challenge cup from Hong- kong, where it has been reposing for a few yara past. It was thought that the teams sent down last year would have stood a good chance of winning, but its performance on the day of the encounter failed to come up to ex- pectations. The five constituting the team on that occasion were R. P. Roberts J. B. Ferrier, Cryt. J. Dewar, Col. Marr Johnson and WJ.Hawkings. The conditions are that three best scores out of five count for the com- petition, and a year ago the three to Colpe .in for Shanghai
were Roberto Ferrier and Hawkings, .but their combined SCOTCH .21 strpkes. ...more
..than Hongkong. There is no doubt that Foaling is a thoroughly difficult course for a stranger, and ita, greens ars apt to give players from a place such as Shanghai a considerable amount of trouble. Eren so the performance of Shanghai fell much below that of Hongkong, and it bas been recognized that it will require almost the strongest local team to carry of the cup.
