With regard to M. Briand's speech at Washington it is semi-officially denied that the Reichswehr is mostly former officers and non commissioned officers. The majority of the Reichswehr are youths who joined up. after the war. The protection police are in no way con- tralied by the Imperial Government but by the state governments and their sole task is to maintain order in the interior.
