BRUSSELS, October 24. The Polish Legation states that according to a telegram from Beuthen, German self-defence forces are preparing to enter the western part of the plebiscite region of Upper Silesia. They fired at Polish villages across the Oder. French detachments engaged the self-defence forces of whom one was killed and two taken prismer. The French captured a large quantity of munitions.

They struggled gamely to the end, and ware heartily applanded as they came in. Several of the competite found their caps, a hindrance, and came in holding them in their bands.
