PRINCES INDIA VISIT.

GENERAL STRIKE AND BOYCOTT ADVOCATED,

EXTREMIST COMMITTEES AGITATION.

BOMBAY, October 9. The working committee of the National Congress and the Khilalate workers has passed a resolution, advocating a general strike thoughout India on the day of the arrival of the Prince of Wales at Bombay and urging pro- vincial committees to arrange to boycott the occasion of the visits of the Prince of Wales to their respective cities. The committee expressed the opinion that the Congress should inform foreign states that the Government of Indis in nowise represented Indian opinion and that India as a selfgovern. ing state, fearing nothing from, her neighbours, did not intend to establish rade relations undesirable to her. The committee declared that Indians regarded most of the treaties between their neighbours and the Imperial Government as mainly designed to perpetuate the exploitation of India. Trutefore it arged states to retain from entering such treaties. The co- mittee in conclusion assured Mussulmuan states that respect for their religious obligations would be the gaiding factor in framing Indian Sorigu policy.

MANCHESTER ROYAL EXCHANGE.

KING AND QUEEN ENTHUSIASTICALLY WELCOMED.

Lost, October 9, At Manchester 12,000 people enthusiastically greeted the King and Quees. In the assembly hall of the Royal Exchange, Sir Arthur Haworth read a loyal address in the course of which he mentioned that the exchange now overed 12 acres. It had a membership of 11.000 representing 2,000 firms operating 60,000,000 spindles and 600,000 looms with a capital of £300.000,-

The King, replying, said that it was his earnest hope that the ceremony would prove the starting point of a stendy and ever-increasing development of the trades which centred in the Exchange and that this would promote cordial relations between the peoples united by commercial
