After binding the master, bis 800 and fakis, they ran sacked the shop, stealing large quantity of clothing, jewell. ery, money and provisions, the value of which has not yet been ascertain- ed.
Not satisfed with their bani, the robbers took away with them the shop master and his son whom they are holding for ransom.
Sergt. Murphy who arrived soun after the robbers had departed, fired a rocket and summoned the police launch. A search was made of the vicinity, but no trace of the rubbers could be found.

All pow conspire to put poor Joe in such a state of mind that he is forced to pretend temporary insanity to keep from being wedded to the wrong girl. He barely escapes bigamy, to be confronted by the ex husband, who insists that his former wife shall be treated right.
Captain D. C. Macintyre, who left Penang for home on retirement by the P.&O. liner "Kalyan" on August 15 was presented before his departure with a memento of his sojourn in the Northern Settlement by the harbour staff. The various shipping companies in Penang also suitably acknowledged the good services he rendered to them during his long term of office as Harbour Master in Penang.
