The retirement was carried out in an orderly enemy now strongly reinforced orced but was driven back by greaades, troops eventually reached Jandola, but wing to the close nature of the heavy ighting our casualties were heavy, in- cluding Lieut. Colonel Sherlock, Captain Schneider and fifteen Indians of other rauks led. One British officer and two Indians were wounded.
TRIAL OF WAR ORIMINALS.
Leipzig, July 12th. The tria of Submarine Lieutenants Ditumar and Boldo has begun on charges of murder and of firing at life-boats con- taining survivors from the hospital ship Lianderer Castle. The case differs from the previous trials in that the proceed- ings have been taken at the instance of the German Prosecutor.
The British Government only demand- ed the trial of Submarine Commander Patzia, who has filed, it is believed, un Danzig.
The German Prosentor, after examia- ing British evidence, ordered the arrest of Dittmar and Boldt. Thirteen British and 52 Gernina witnesses will be cum- moned, including Admiral von Troths. The British Mission. headed by the Soli- citor-General, Sir Ernest Pollock, is at tending the proceedings.

The Speaker on June 7 announced that after consulting the authorities he bad decided to open the Indies" gallery from Monday to the wives of members. Lady Astor suggested that distinguished overseas women should be allowed to enter the House and gave as an instance a distinguished lady from New Zealand who was now in England. The Speaker said that he had very carefully considered many similar cases but could not relax the restrictions further at the present time. Earl Winterton aug. gested the extension of the privilege to wives of members of the Dominions who were attending the Imperial Cabinet and the Speaker promised to camider the point
