BRILLIANT FAREWELL CONCERT.
Mischa Elman, the world famous violinist, gave his farewell concert at the Theatre Royal on Saturday night, before a good house. The program- me was a' varied one, but in every item the greatest delicacy of tone and masterly "technique was revealed. TWO numbers which were greatly enjoyed were variations on a theme by Tartini.' (Corell-Kreisler). and Serenade |(Schubrt.) The former consists of * simple tunaful main theme which the artist brought out strongly. The variations demanded a great | deal of work and the way the artist rendered them was nothing thort" of niarvellous. The composition by Schubert is very well known but It is safe to say that at the bands of | Elmas, new beauties were discovered. A minnet by Haydn was also gener- ally commented upon.
