LONDON, May 26." The deaths are announced of Admiral Sir Arthur Wilson and Admiral Sir James Bruce.
Admiral Sir Arthur Kayret Wilson, V.C., O.M, G.C.B., was First Sea Lord of the Admiralty from 1909 to 1912 when be retired. He served in the Crimean War, 1854, and the Chinese War, 1865. Admiral Sir James Andrew Thomas Bruce, K.CMG., was second in Command of the China Station from 1900 to 1901.
ULSTER ELECTIONS.
COUNTING OF THE VOTES BEGUN.
LONDON, May 25. Counting the votes in the Ulster elections has begun but the extra work etailed by the proportional representation system will delay declaration of most of the results until the week-end. The first member elected was Mr. Moles, member of the House of Commons, for South Belfast where he secured a clear quota. Indications are that other three Unionists will be returned.

A QUESTION.
While reading over the exchanges last night we came across an item in the North China Daily Mail which shocked us out of our contentment over the assurances recently given to the Kwangteng Government by H. E. Governor Stubbs that his visit to Peking bad co' connection with Canton affairs, says the Canton Times in its leading article of to-day's issue. This item sub-headed_ ̈ Britain's Acquisitions stated that Britain bas acquired mining rights in the twenty-. three districts in Kwangtung after the establishment of the new Consortium. The information & dated London, May 13.
Now it happens that the Cassell agreement mentions just twenty three districts of Kwangtung-province by name, followed by an "etc." The' only possible inference we could draw from this, is that the report which emanated from London refers to the same mining rights included in the terms of the Cassell Agreement.
After having received authoritative information of Governor Stubbs official assurances to the govemment of Kwangtung, we feel reluctant about bringing the matter to the attention of the public again. It may be a mere coincidence that this report came from London at the very time, or soon after, His Excellency was entèr- tained in Peking by Hsu Shih-chang Some one connected with the Cassell interest may have given out the re- port. It may have been made by an irresponsible party who has no official position whatsoever. Our first inclination was to throw the clipping into the editorial waste basket and think nothing more of it. But after reading the item over and over again, we came to the conclusion that it would do no harm to publish it, if for no other reason than to have it denied.
