A LEGAL QUESTION.

An Interesting legal point has arisen in regard to the bequest of!

Ella Vicars £5.000 which Miss Watson, of Ticehurst, Sussex, left to her servant Florence Mabel Milton. **if still in her service."

Miss Milton, who is a tall, good- locking 30-year-old daughter of a Southwick (Sussex) market gardener, went from school to service with Miss Watson at Hove and remained there for 10 years.

During this time she won'the affec- tion of Miss Watson, who promised to.look after her if she,stayed, but about six years ago Miss Watson was sent to a private asylum. Miss Milton, however, was never dismiss- ed..

"When the money 'comes will be time to think of what to do with it." | Miss Milton said to a reporter. "Mean- while I am carrying on as a domestic servant I am quite happy and an not worrying about it at all. If it does come I shall be glad, of course.**

Regarding trade with the Far East, the Board of Trade Returns show that the exports of cotton yarn to China decreased from 125,000 ths, in February, 1920, to 101,800 in Feb ruary this year, and to the Straits Settlements from 74,000 to 27,200, but the exports to the Dutch East- Ladies increased from 14,000 lbs. to 26,900. Exports of cotton piece goods are considerably down when compared with February of last year. Thus Chica's figure fell from 32,199,800 yards to 16,609,400, Japan's from 1,934,000 to 711,400, and Straits Settlements from 5,433,- 300 to 3,451,900. Big decreases are also shown in linen piece goods, Dutch East Indies imports falling from 52,600 to 8,400, and Japan's In woollen from 14.400 to 1,900.

and worsted tissues the decrease is not so marked. Marked increases: are shown in some of the iron and steel exports to various centres. The exports of tinned plates and sheets to China increased from 838 tons in February, 1920, to 3,236 this year, and Japan's import ef steel bars, angles, etc, increased from 580 to 735, while in the miscellaneous iron and steel classes of iron and steel manufactures the Straits Settlements increased their import from 367 tons in February, 1920, to 1,524 last month. In galvanised sheets, on round the other hand, big, all decreases are shown in the exports to the Dutch East Indies, Japan and the Straits Settlements. In the im ports section, a remarkable decrease is registered in tea from China, which in February of this year amounted to only 167,044 lbs., against 1,532,472 in February, 1920, while the imports from Java and Netherlands increased from 1,131,869 to 4,994,252 Imports of k from China fell from 61,114 lbs. in February, 1920, to 14,797 this year, while no return is made of any im Dort from Japan during last month. The imports of rubber from the Dutch East Indies, increased from 7,359 centals in February, 1920 to 19,726 this year, but the figures for the Straits Settlements and FMS. show big decreases in the correspond ing mouth, those of the former falling from 62,521 centals to 46,312, and of the latter from 75,570 to 47,059,
