INCENSE TO LURE MOTORISTS.

By painting his premises a bright yellow and burning incense all day the proprietor of one of the strangest curio shops in England, situated on a quiet stretch of the Dorking-Guilford road, Surrey, attracts the attention of passing motorists, on whom his cus- tom almost entirely depends. He is Mr. R. Buchanan Cock, the manager of a tannery at Gomshall The shop, a converted Army hut, stands in the tannery grounds.

When I called, writes a correspon- dent. I found Mr. Cock seated on the floor talking philosophy with, among others, a submarine commander, a „doctor, and a woman undergraduate.
