Thirty-six times round the world was part of the remarkable record of Captain Joki Wyrill who died. at his home in Scarborough in mail week at the age of 84. Captain Wyrill, who had only been in retirement for 16 years, had followed the sea for 54 years, during 44 of which he was a master mariner.
He had made many voyages to Tasmania, China, Japan, New Zea land, and Australia. He was never shipwrecked. but on his last voyage out he had a'thriling experience, when his ship was overrun by a tidal wave, off the Cape of Good Hope.
