ARRESTS IN FRANCE.

PARIS, February 17. An examination of the persons arrested in connection with the com- manist movement in France bas established the fact that the alleged Bolshe vist agent, Abramovitch, had a deposit of 200,000 franes in an American bank in Paris, the money coming from a German bank. A number of further arrests have been made throughout France, also in Algeria and Tunis. A man named John Minkin who was arrested at Brest was found to possess a "passport" signed by a representative of the Soviet Govern- ment at Sydney, Australia. The police have discovered large quantities of atolen explosives in the houses of four men known to be Bolshevist sympathisers

Mr. Thomas Lamont, a member of the American Peace Delegation to Paris, has visited President-elect Harding, and given an unqualified assur ance that no agreement or secret understanding whatsoever was made at Versailles as regards the whole or partial cancellation of Allied Debts.
