THE GUMS.

Ender the gas is the important foundation—the bony root sockets which hold the teeth in place..

?

Healthy gums guard and preserve this foundation of your teeth. Soft, bleeding, teader or receding gums allow Pyorrbes infection, to creep beneath them. If unchecked, the germs spread to the bony root sockets, weaken and destroy them.

Then your teeth become loose and eventually fall out, or must be extracted because Frother has eaten away their supporting founda- tro. You way bave kept the visible surface of the teeth white and glistening by daily brushing-you may have had all cavities skilfully filed-bat all that care has gone for uaught because you neglected Four guma.

Watch your gures if you want to save your teeth.

Prorrhoide Powder was compounded for the apecific purpose of maintaining and restoring gum health. In addition to its ingredients which keep the teeth white and clean, it is medicated with Dentinol, a germicidal and healing agent widely used by the dental profession in the treatment of Porthea at the dentist's chair.

Prorrbocide Powder tones up the game, stimulates their blood circulation, maintains hardness and firmness, thereby increasing the" power to resist Pyorrhova infection. Its effectiveness for this parr e has been conclusively proved by thorough tests in clinics devoted exclusively to Pyorrhea study and research. That is why. dentists everywhere recommend it

TENANTS' RIGHTS.

MORE, TROUBLE AT QUEEN'S

* GIRDERS.

Whether a landlord has the right to maintain that a ferant must taka an- ¡ other person into his room, or give up the room, is a point suggested by the experience of a resident in one of Hongkong's boarding establishments.

The establishment in question is the Montpellier, No. 2, Queen's Gardens, Peak Road, under the management of Mr. S. D. Hiskie, in the absence of Mrs. Hickie. The tenant has lived in ! the place for about seven years. In that period the rate has been largely increased; nevertheless she has paid the additional suus asked without complaint. Until about a year ago she occupied the room with her mother. On the death of her mother, she re- tained the room, paying $130 a month for room and meals.

The first intimation she received that the management desired her to take someone'eke into the room came in a letter from Mr. Hickie dared September 16 hast. Following is s

extract:

I was wondering if you had a friend whom you would dare to have live with you. Me wile mentioned it) before she went away. It would be company for you and make things z] little cheaper.

Because of the tone of the letter. the tenant accepted the remark about taking another person, into the roma" as joking suggestion, and beyond agreeing that it might be cheaper, made no reply or reference to the Isubject.

She discovered that it was intended Iseriously when she received, a second letter, dated October 27.-in which

Mr. Hickie wrote:

"Have you got a friend yet to join you in your room as mentioned in my letter of two months ago? An advt. would be the best thing if, not."

To this the tenant wrote an answer that she had no friend to join her, and no intention of advertising for a

Stranger.

Then came this letter from Mr Hickie, dated October 30:

Then in reply to yours of 28th inst. as you don't care to study our interests I don't see that we should study you any longer and must ask you so vacate your room at the end of next month.
