A ̃STANDING MYSTERY,

The discovery of a new race of Pygmies in the virgin forests of the Belgian Conco by the American mis- sionary. Dr. Vanderbergh, will be of interest for ody to all anthropolo gists, but as the non-scientife mah in the stret, who has always shown a greater seriosity in the dwarf than in the giant. The tradition of the existence of rygny races has been strong since the days of Homer, and they have usually been, located in Africa. And yet we are told that they are much more in- telligent than the big negio tribes living in their vicinity, and have a highly-developed sense of humour. which endows them with some of the agreeable traits of Fuck and Robin Goodfellow.
