AKROPLANE OF THE FUTURE

BRITISH AIR MARSHAL'S INTERESTING FORECASTS.

RESMBLANCE TO SHIPS.

LONDON, October 13. At the Air Conference today, Air Marshat Sir Edward Ellington gave an Interesting forecast of the aeroplane of the future. He announced that the Air Ministry was developing two new engines. The first was the *swash plve" engine in which an inclined disc on a shaft replaced the ordinary crank. The second was a steam turbine with which it was hoped to be able to fulfil all the required conditions and greatly increase cylindrical power besides being silent. It would also reduce the physical effort required by the pilot. Another at present in the design stage provided engines la the fuselage driving propellers in the wings, relieving the pilot of control of the engine, the latter signalling orders to the engineroom as aboard ship.
