Aa. eleventh hour atempt to steit a coal criss was made this morning when as the result of a suggestion by the railwaymen's leader, St. Thomas, the miners' executive again met the Premier at Downing Street. In view of the possibility of a strike the Government has decided to continue the summer time, which should have lapsed on Sept. 27, until Oct 25

The Triple Alliance which sat, the whole evening reported, that discussed the question of joint action with the railwaymen and workers with the miners, who claimed that the position was not altered by the intervention of the Premier. Eventually the Alliance meeting was adjourned until to-morrow. The Alliance is apparently discussing whether the railwaymen and transport workers will give the minios aedve or only moral support.
