BOMBAY, September 4. Captain G. H. Salmon, of the Sixth Devons, assistant political officer at Kifrs, whom Arab tribesmen captured last week, has been murdered. Anxiety has been renewed as regards Captain Lloyd' and Mrs. Buchanan, wife of the late Captain Buchanan, who are both in the hands of the Arabs, ARMOURED TRAIN HELD UP.

LONDON, September 5.

A War Offce communique reports that an armoured train and a train with refugees was held up by Arabs at Istabulat, 50 miles north-west of Bagdad, as the railway was cut in two places. Strong resistance, was encountered from the insurgents who were entrenched in broken ground, and slight casualties were suffered. A repair train with troops is proceed- ing to Istabulat to extricate the isolated train, and aeroplanes are co-operat Ing. A colum entered Kii. encountering slight opposition. The town of Samarrah is quiet. The insurgents who invested it are reported to have retired.

Queen's Club ground at West Kensington was packed this afternoon with spectators to watch the great athletic tussle between the British Empire and the American champion, most of whom were from the Olympic Games, including the prize winners.

The programs included five relay races. The British. Empire won the half-mile relay by six yards, în Imin. 29 3/5secs.

LONDON, September 4 America won the 400 yards relay race. The British Empire won the mile relay race by six yards in 3min. 19.2.5sect.

The two miles relay was won by 35 yards in 7min. 531 5secs. The high jump was won by Howard Baker (England) with 6 feet 33 inches. Landon (America) made 6 feet 2 inches. The 400 relay was won by America with 12 yards in 39 seconds. The two mile team race America won by 7 out of 14 points. In the broad jump the America Hamilton and Marchant tied with 22 feet. The 400 hurdle was won by Smart (America) who beat Watt (America) by a foot and won in 56.1 5secs. The four miles relay America won by 70 yards in 18min. 8.4/5secs. As official report from Dublin announces a new Sinn Fein rase. Sinn Feiners wearing military, uniforms appeared at the police barracks in Beleek, Fermanagh, and entered the building unopposed They whipped cut revolvers and overawed the garrison which was locked up in an outhouse. Others, meanwhile, locked the doors of the church where the re- mainder of the garrison was attending Mass. The raiders subsequently drove off in automobiles with all the arms and equipment.
