As a member of the Italian Parlia ment, Marquis Canpolotarro voted that Italy go into the conflict. De- claring that whoever voted to declare war should be willing to take part in it, the elderly statesman tried to enter many branches of the service and finally enlisted as a common sea- man in the navy where his brother was an Admiral. His service in this humble capacity won the admiration of all the Italian people.

Marquis Canpolotarro čame to China early in January on a pleasure trip. He has been staying with the, Italian thisister in Feking.
