(tri-nitro-toluol) with an attached mechanism provided with a flexible diaphragm and a piston which depressed a spring in such a way that the spring was com-. pressed in proportion to the depth below the surface of the set. The firing gear was so arranged that a trigger was released when the spring was compressed by the amount cor- responding to the desired depth. The trigger fired a detonator; the detonster exploded the T.N.T.; and
