We are informed by Mr. Edwin N. Gunsaulus, Consul General of the United States of America, that he is in receipt of telegraphic instructions from the Department of State at Washington to the effect that depart. ment and emergency passports issued on or after July 1. 1920, will cost the applicant $1.00 United States currency, for executing the applica- tion and $9.00 for passport fee. Applications which cannot reach Washington prior to June 25th 1920, must bear a $10.00 United States currency fee stamp (equal at the Government's rate of exchange to $18.00, Straits currency}.

From and after July 1, 1920, a fee of $1.00, United. States currency will be collected for the execition of visa application of an alien and $9.00 for visa of an alien's 'passport ($10.00 United States currency, equal to $18.00, Straits currency).

No fee will be collected for visaing the passports of officers of foreign Governments, and members of their immediate families, officers of the armed fordes of foreign Governments, or officers of any State, district or municipality thereof, travelling to of through the United States, or return- ing alien soldiers...
