They are armed with two 47 inch guns and a couple of 3 pounders. These sloops are very fine seaboats, and were specially built for remaining at sea for long periods. They are admirably suited for patrolling the rivers of China and the islands of the Pacific, their light draught and heavy armament making them most useful policing ships.
