The Madras Mail reports the death, on the 26th uit. at his residence at Chet-pat of Mr. S. Ramanujam, F. R. S. who returned to India in March Last year as he had been very ill in England. He was born in 1888, of a very poor Brahmin family of Kum- bakonam, and early in his school career gave proiuise of exceptional mathematical talent, Mr. Ramanujam entered the service of the Madras Port Trust, and there he found re cognition of his extraordinary talent which secured for him facilities for exclusive devotion to research work
