MERCANTILE BANK OF INDIA.
The twenty-seventh annual report of the Board of Directors to the Shareholders reads:
The Directors submit to the Shareholders of the Bank the General Balance Sheet and Statement of Profit and Loss Account for the year ending 31st December, 1919
The Net Profits for the year, after proving for bad and doubtful debts, and including £85,793, 18.6d. brought forward from last Account, amount to £301,430 2. 2d. From this sum has to be deducted £52,500, being. the Interim Dividend of 7 per cent... less Income Tax, on the "A" and "B" Shares paid in October last.
The Directors have added £50,000 to the Reserve Fund (raising it to £750,000), £15,000 to the Officers' Pension Fund, and written £20,000 off Freehold Banking Premises. They now recommend a Final Dividend on the "A" and "B" Shares of 7 per cent., less Income Tax (making 14 per cent, for the year), and a Bonna of 2 per cent. less Income Tax, leaving a balance of £96,430. 2. 2d, to be carried forward.
The following Directors retire by rotation, but, being eligible, offer themselves for re-election:-
