A Chinese has been removed to the Government Civil Hospital, suffering injuries received by falling off a tram car in Shaukiwan. It appeared, according to those who saw the accident, that he was jump- ing off a moving car when he miss ed his footing and, falling on the road, got both his legs caught under the wheels of the tram car. They were almost severed.

JAVA LINE'S NEW SHIPS.

FLEET TO BE INCREASED.

An increase of four ships is ex- pected by the Java-China-Japan Line. The new vessels will be cargo 'carriers and will be of considerable size, threa being of 14,000 tons displacement and one of 16,000 tons. Their speeds will be 13 to 14 knots per hour. All .four will be in service during the course of this year. These additions will increase the fleet of the Java" Line to a total of fifteen steamers.
