During the past few tonths several, instances have occurred of applica tions being made to H.BM. Supreme Court at Shanghai, on the part of British companies carrying on bust ness in China, for the granting of further time within which to file certain documents with the Registrar of Companies at Shanghai and for relief from the fines and penalties to which the applicants had, by reason of their failure so to file such docu- ments, rendered themselves liable under the provisions of the Com panies Ordinances.
