CHINESE HONOUR HOŃ, DR. OLAUD SEVERN, G.M.G.

"Continued from page B) | The present position of the Club was due to Dr. Severn, especially the improvement in the ground. Tas only grievance they had against him was that Dr. Severn did not take to batting seriously. He hoped that Dr. Severn when he came back would imitate Mr. Bird, who not only topped the bowling but had become a good batsman. (Applause and laughter).

Mr. Ng Sze Kwong, on behalf of the Chinese Recreation Club, thanked Dr. Severn for the interest he had taken in his Club. "Dr. Severn had always been a friend of the CR.C. and his team wished him a pleasant voyage

Dr. Severn, in reply, thanked the Civil Service Club, stating that it would always be a pleasure to him to have been associated with it for so many years. He was glad to see the members of the C.R.C. present, as all were agreed that they were good sportsmen. He was fully deter mined to come back to the Colony and he hope that his batting would improve by then. He was coming back a good bowler, able to break through the defence of any stone-"; waller, and he regretted that Mr. Ponsonby-Fane would not be present to face him.-(Laughter),

A PRESENTATION TO KOWLOON BRITISH SCHOOL.

It is interesting to note that the Hongkong Boxing Association has been prompt to recognise the good work being doce in Kowloon British School in teaching the boys boxing and has presented three sets of boxing gloves for the use of the embroyo puglists.

in organizing boxing classes for The lead taken by Mr. Nightingale

Kowloon British School is likely to have far reaching results and it is more than probable that an inter- school tournament will be held later on. In this connection it might be mentioned that His Excellency the Governor, when Colonial Secretary in Ceylon, presented a shield for competition by schoolboy boxers, known as the "Shield" His Excel- ency has already expressed his ap- proval of boxing classes for Hong- kong schools so that it is reasonable to anticipate His Excellency's keen support of whatever might be one in Hongkong.

There will probably be another tournament by the boys of Kowloon British School on Saturday week.
