PROFESSOR EINSTEIN.

EMINENT PHILOSOPHER ON HIS

DISCOVERIES.

Mr. George Renwick, the special correspondent of the Daily Chronicle,

has

interviewed in Berlin. Prof. Einstein, the distinguished interpreter of what has been somewhat extrava gantly called a new theory of the universe. This is what he says of the meeting:-

Science as successor to the great. Dutch savant. Professor van Hoff.

He lectures at the University of Berlin and leads his services to scientific institutions. Being of the Mosaic confession, he is deeply in trested in Zionism, and in the estab Lishment of a jewish University.

Then a message came that the pro- fessor was disengaged, and I was shown into his study. Into his cell, might almost say, for his little room is but plainly and scantily furnished.

Almost before I could have a look this extraordinary man, Professor Einstein was, eulogising the friend ness of English scientists.

I remembered, too, meeting, hall- way through the war. a well-known archeologist, whose mind had never advanced beyond the time of the builder's who crowned the Acropolis at Athens with its templed glory.

But found Professor Einsten lived very much in the world of to-day. Though in the presence of this great scientist you do feel that you are in a region above the troubled world, a region, in which science bestows a loftier vision, he is intensely human.

He leads an extremely happy home life. His family consists of two sons of his first marriage: he married a second time shortly after his return to Berlin. And in the family circle he is not the man who has shaken the whole structure upon which

A keen sportsman, too, he likes nothing better than to go sailing.or yachting--he is an expert yachtsman -on the lakes found round Potsdam or at some seaside resort.

We chatted abour relativity for a while, and I found him extremely modest about his work regarding it.

He is keen to acknowledge the con-
