A Society correspondent writes- "The 1920 fashion for the young "blood" is likely to be that of very short whiskers reaching down qply as far as the bottom of the ear. It is not becoming, and contrasts oddly with the clean-shaven uppar lip, but there can be no doubt that certain sartorial leaders in two or three of the best clubs are going to adopt this, and then it will be immediately exaggerated on the Stock Exchange. All ladies seem to agree that it is very ugly, and one peer, who is opposed to it, curtly expressed the hope that a Royal hint of disappensation might nip the non- sense in the bud. Probably he will personally endeavour to get his wish realised"

An American syndicate is consider. ing on the spot plans for bringing all existing hotela within the battlefield radius under a general control, and there is a more promising scheme still for giving the National Touring Touring Bureau certain rights along the zone under the general supervision of the French Ministry of Works.

To meet the spirit of the time many classes have to be catered for, for all have suffered losses and have graves to visit. Comparatively humble people have been saving for the pilgrimage, and it would be intolerable if only the wealthy were allowed to range the battle zone.

What fine sentiments and strength of emotions are entwined in the hopes surrounding these specimen cases.
