CHEMICALS

The report of Sir. S. W. Royse "Co., Ltd., dated Manchester, Nov. 28, says-Chemicals.-Enquiry has been good during November both for! the home trade and export and some important business has been put through for delivery well shead, Manufacturers are fully employed, stocks are low, and prices generally have an upward tendency.

Labour

has been more settled but the trans-; port position remains difficult. Dur- ing the menth Sulphure of Copper has received more attention both for home consumption and expon but prices are unchanged. the demand for Green Copperas for shipment continues but there is no improvement for the home trade. Stocks of Acetate of Lime are low and firmly held. Acetats of Soda has been selling freely at lower prices but is latterly stronger with the clear-" ance, of steeks and the rise in Acetic Acid, All Lead Salts are firmer in sympathy with the advance in the metal, but are only moving slowly. Carbonate of Potash is in good de- mand without change in price. A moderate enquiry is passing for Caus- rie Potash. There is nothing doing ini Montreal Potashes. White Powdered Arsenic is again dearer and the quan- tity available is only small. There is. a better enquiry for Yellow Prussiate. of Potash and with the shortage of supplies price is higher. The strong export demand for Prussiate of Soda continues and considerable business! has been done for delivery over, the first half of next year. Tartaric Acid ...is in good request both for early and') forward delivery and the market is! very firm. Cream of Tartar continues in short supply and is dearer, contin- enial makers having again advanced their prices, owing to increased cost wo! Tuch. Citric Acid is 5rmly held.

Bichromates of Potash and Soda are, scarce and full prices are paid for any parcels available. Oxalic Acid has been in better request; stocks have been cleared and higher prices asked. There is no change in the position of Borax and Boracic Acid Phosphate - Soda is an easier market. The

heavy export demand continues for; Mutiare of Ammonia and Salummoniac and the latter has advanced £5 per ton. White Caustic Soda is in great request and the price is higher. Bleaching Fowder and Ammonia Alkali are also well enquired for.. Chlorates of Potash and Soda are

freely offered. There is increased

activity in Tar Products. Pitch is in good demand with consequent rise in prices. Benzole remains firm and supplies are readily taken up. I Toluoles are unchanged. Solvent! Nachtha has more enquiry and, with stocks low, prices have considerably ! advanced and many buyers are not fully covered. There is an increas- ing demand for Creosote and makers are asking higher prices. Crude Car- bolic Acid continues uninteresting, but Crystal has been in better request and Liquid remains in short supply. Sul- phate of Ammonia is unchanged.
