A Havas mesango asystu Peace Conference circles AгO concerned about the German proceedings bin Silesia, where the Allies have been set ab #desance by the Germans, who beld elec
tions failing to execute the Armistice conditions. The (iezman Government have been notified at the invalidity of such elections.
On the other hand, the political situa tion in Berlin gives rise to much suspi- cion. Pro-Kaiser nad pro-Hindenburg scenes grow daily in aggressiveness and importance all over Germany-
Passports have not yet been abolished. between Great Britain and France but other minor formalities have been liberal- ly modified.
France's revenue from indirect taxation and State enterprises for October amount ed to 831.000.000 francs, an increase of 900,000,000 on the Budget estimates.
The French papers state that a perfect. Franco-British political understanding exists on principal foreign matters, which, happily, appear to be the same standpoint taken by the other members of the Entente.
Before leaving England, President Poincare sent
message to the whole Eng ligh nation stating that Franco British friendship was sanctified by their com mon sufferings and victory, such friend ship being no mere diplomatic record but a close friendship wrought by two nations. There is no alteration in the situation in respect of the printing workers' strike. There is an improvement in the situa tion brought about by reason of the food atoros' and the dry-goods store?' strikes.
