SILVER'S HIGHEST RECORD.
ABOVE MELTING POINT. -
LONDON, October 29. Owing to a persistant demand from China and a shortage of supplies of spot silver, the price to-day renched 66a pence an ounce. This is a new record. As this is above the price at which it pays to melt down silver coins, namely sixty-six pence, much interest is being taken in the steps the Government may take to meet the situation.
WARSHIPS TO CAREY COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS.
IF THE ADMIRALTY DOESN'T OBJECT.
LONDON, Oct. 29. Sir Hamar Greenwood, of the Overseas Trade Dept, in a speech in London announced that Mr. Walter Long had agreed to his suggestion that every British battleship sailing abroad should carry commercial travellers and representatives of British business firms. It only remained for Mr. Walter Long to persuade the Lords of the Admiralty to agree also.
