HONGKONG REDISTER.

THE CHING YEE ISLAND ROBBERY.

The five men charged with com mitting on armed robbery in a grocer's shop at Ching Tee Island on the night of August 29. were again. before Mr. R. E. Lindsell this after. noon.

Mr. C. H. Lyson appeared for the second defendant.

A fisherman living at Lai Chi Kok deposed that while his sampan was ly tug of Lai Chi Kok that night, be heard a voice calling him to row his sampan to the pier. When he got alongside the pier, a man said that six men would soon board his sampan to go to Ching Yee Island to work on a grave. He was offered $3,50, and he agreed. Later, the six men boarded the sampan, which made off. On the way, the third defendant pointed a revolver at nim and demanded him to be silent. When the Island: Was reached four ci the men went ashore and two guarded him. Shortly after, he heard two shots fired from some distance, and a little while later, the four men returned to the Sampan.. He saw some rockets shot up into the air in the island. He was then ordered to row them back to the

pier.

The case was continuing as me went to press.
