At the last meeting of the Chamber of Shipping, attention was drawn to the fact that a letter had been sent to the Suez Canal Company, asking for some reduction in rates. British shipowners naturally feel the high charges of presen: Canal rates. stand- ing, as they do, at Bf. 50c, per net tow, for ballast and cargo ships the
