LIFE ON THE OCEAN WAVE.
at
Three firemer from the str. "Luceric "-R. Rearley, J. Russell and F. McIlwaine appeared before Mr. F. Alan Robinson in H. M.
Police Court Shanghai charged with having as- saulted the chief steward of the steamer on July 28, and also with baving been absent without leave, In his evidence, John Alexander, the chief steward, stated that these men had been absent when the midday meal was served. They came about three o'clock and demanded their food, but before he had time to make any reply they kicked him about, knocked him down and chased him to his cabin. Evidence in corroboration was given, and in reply the accused complained about the quality of the food. On the question of being absent they further said that they had signed on to work eight hours a day, and instead they were doing 16 and getting nothing for it. His Worship dismissed the charge of being absent from the ship, and remarked that the assagit seemed to have been particularly brutal. Their complaint about the food had not been supported in evidence, and in itself would not justify the assault. He sentenced each to 14 days' imprisonment..
HOW TO KEEP BABY WELL IN SUMMER.
The summer months are the most dangerous to infants and young children. The complaints of this season, which are tholora infantum, colic, diarrhea wód dysentery, come on so quickly that often the little one is beyond aid almost before the parents realize he is ill. The mother must be on her guard to prevent these tre ables, or if they do come on suddenly she should have means at hand for their immediate treatment.
No other medicine is of such aid to mothers during hot weather as is Baby's Own Tablets, the Canadian children's remedy. These pleasant-testing little Tablets regulate the stomach and bowels and are absolutely safe. They are a remedy for simple fever, indigestion, colic, constipation, disechos and worms. They make toothing easy, promote healthy appetite, restful sleep and regular development
