The deliverance adopted by the Frite Free Assembly cordially wal comes the new Articles, recognising that by the the onlinrty and identity of both Churches would be maintained and that the United Charsh would bear the character of a purely spiritual institution, in no cense deriving powers from or cont troll by the State. Bu the General Assembly of the Church of Sectkut one of the in- cident of Foreign Mission Day " excited march interest. Dr. Ogilvie presented to the Moxlerator a letter conveying fraternal greetings from the Presbyterian Church of China. The. Ogilvio emphasised the signific- ance of the little episode,-greetings from the Church in China'to the Church in Scotland. After a pause there was a burst of hearty cheering. from the members of the Assembly. The document was written in Chi mese charioters or paper of a vivid red colour.
A similar adi:ose was presented in the Assembly of the United Free Clary, and was received with great cordiality as from "the youngest General Assembly in the world.'
AN EXAMPLE FROM CHINA. Dr. Cgilvie made a neat point in connection with the presentation of this address from China. They should face the task of converting the Tehang Mis- sion into a China Mission.
INEFFICIENT MISSION SCHOOLS IN MANCHURIA. The Assembly members of the United Free Church were told by the Rev. D. T. Robertson, Frincipal of the Arts College, Moukden, that the Church system of education in Manchuria was inefficient. It was unworthy of their cause, and was in a dy ng condition. Christian schools in Manchuria were housed in build- jings considered interior by the native: mind, the interiors were badly kept," the equipment was of a low grade, aad the teachers were mostly drawn from the class of men who accepted Low wages.
