An attempt to get soldiers who enlisted under the Derby scheme to demobilise" themselves has been discovered by the police, the Daily Chronicle understands.
For some time the authorities have been aware that efforts have been made to cause unrest in the Army by persuading men who are retained after May 11 that they have a grievance. It has been suggested. that, as these men enlisted for the period of the war and six months after, they are entitled to their free. dom on May 11, which is six months. after the cessation of hostilities.
