The "Daily Chronicle" learns that for some time past experiments have been made with the object of dis- covering a suitable substitute for the ordinary building brick, which is something of a rarity at the present time.

Various "concrete" bricks and building blocks have been produced, but many of them were open to the objection that they were not thorough-

damp proof, and because of this builders and local authorities were inclined to look askance at them.

Counsel' explained that the respond ent, Capt. Alfred Raphael Campbell (formerly a merchant), married his first wife, Alice Rowe, at the Chapel Royal, Savoy, London,, on June 30,

OXFORD-STREET INCIDENT.

A machine has been designed · which will turn out nine-inch concrete bricks at the rate of from 8,000 to 10,000 a day. They can be used in constructional work the day after they have been made.

Mr. Justice Horridge pronounced a decree nisi in the one case and a decree of nullity in the other. His lordship added:

"I wish the Public Prosecutor to be notified of this case. I have been trying nearly every day during the war common soldiers for bigamy and passing substantial sentences.

"This man is, or has been, a cap- tain in the Army, formerly a mer chant, and, as far as the evidence. before me goes, he married these two ladies and Inficted a serious injury upon one of them. This is certainly a case where the papers ought to go before the Public Prosecutor."
