The coal mines at Holikangtzu were opened last year by the Hokang Mining Company. The seam is reported to be more than 67 miles long and the coat is of the best quality. The coal is sold to Harbin, Sansing, and other localities, and it is now proposed to build a light railway from the mines to the Sungari river, a distance of about 47 miles.

There was opened recently at the Norfolk Navy Yard, Norfolk. Va., a large dry dock, constructed by the George Leary Construction Company, The structure is 1,022ft. long, and can duck vessels up to 1,000ft, in length.
