Mr. "Oswald Stall is now interested in scheme for establishing a Shake- speare National Theatre, which be is prepared to buck with a personal. contribution of £3,000. This theatre would give two festivals annually, ench of six weeks' duation. They would consist of Shakespeare phys and masterpieces in drama and music of our own and other coun tries. The schema would include the production every year for one month of an ideal variety entertain- ment with "the object of setting "a
·stundaïd to which all such entertuin rents might ultimately rise. Fin ally, it would also embrace the pre- senation of every important ad- vance in the development of moving pictures. The project would neces- sitate a basic outing of not less thar £4,000,000, £nd it is proposed to ask the Government to appropriate fjor the outlay four-fifths of the year's antertainment tax.
