The question of fireworks was first dealt with and it was announced that they hoped to have the actual. figures for the cost of a firework display at the next meeting. They had obtained an offer to put on a

similar display to that given in San Francisco Harbour at the time of the exhibition, which was exceptionally fine.

Bird, the chairman of the decoration sub-committee, gave a start report of what his committee had done with regard to a scheme of decoration, and produced two very fine designs of arches to be erected at different points along the streets, plans being prepared for fourteen in all. He also produced another fine design of a triumphal arch to be erected in Statue Square and a3, Sang Ju-tak. scheme of decoration for the railings.
