Chemicals. There has been caly a quiet demand this month, especially for the home market, consumers ahewing a disposition to delay buying as long as possible. The enquiry for export has been fair but business has been difficult to arrange. "Some prices faveur buyers but there has been no considerable easing in values as was
The Singapore. "anticipated in some quarters.
demand for Sulphate of Copper for the home trade continues disappoint-i jag, but there is mere enquiry for shipment. Green Copperàs, remains stendy and, with the increased supply doing packages, more business for shipment. Acetates of Lime more slowly and little is being done in Acetate of Soda, buyers only' covering their immediate needs. The demand for Acetate of Lead is small and, with more offering, prices are easier. Carbonate of Potash is in better supply and value has receded Business in Montreal somewhat. Potashes is nominal. Arsenic has fallen considerably and there is more demand, with the removal of export restrictions as to Arsenical products. Prussiate of Potash is easier with the prospect of better supplies, but Prus alate of Soda remains steady. There is a slackening in the demand for Tartaric and Citric Acids and Cream of Tartar, and business passing is only for near delivery. Bichromates Soca are in LA Potash and plentiful supply and resale parcels. are offering at below makers' quotations. With most consumers
of Phosphate of Soda under contract, there has been mere pressure ta sell and price has fallen somewhat but litlle business is raising. Chlorates of Potash and Soda are offered more #freely and prices are lower, Makers of Alum and Sulphate of Alumina "are still unable to cope with the demand but prices remain unchanged. The export enquiry for Salammoniac and Muriate of Armeniac continues brisk.Ia Bleaching Powder andCaustic Soda makers have been booking con- tracts for this year's requirements. 'Business in Tar Products has been only moderate. Some good quanti- ries of Berzale have been sold fer Motor purposes and prices remain firm. Toluole is quiet but vaines demand for are steady. The' Solvent Naphtha is small and it is difficult to find an outlet for available supplies. There is no business in Crude Carbolic Acidkwing no doubt to prices for this year not having been arranged, and there being practically no cemona lor CrVELS. Liquid Carbolic Acid is in strong request and supplies are readily taken up. Prices df Creosote have streng thened with the removal of restrict ions and the goce demard from the home and foreign markets. Pitch cntinues firm and st pie fair quantit ies are offering. but" the difference between makeis'. and consumers' ideas of price is restricting business. Sulphate of Ammonia is practically unchanged under cfficial control..
Sundries.-Starch for near delivery continues to be cffered only from Government stocks Lut there is some pressure to sell for shipment. With the prospect of reduced rates of freight, lower prices are expected for both Starch and Farina, A steady buiness is passing in Dextrines for no. delivery: Any supplies of White Bar tes are quickly taken up at full

Here is a fine example of what a light remiantic comedy should be. A spirited. arcmance and an elemental plot closely knit and splendidly 'arranged.
