Again, the output was short of the estimate by close on 20.000 lbs. The manager Explains that the reason of this was continued heavy thinning out and an extremely severe and prolonged drought of practically four months. The directors are able to recommend a dividend at this time but in con- sequence of the low price still ring for rubber, it is unlikely that an in- terim dividend will be paid next April. We have at the end of this year to meet in respect of income tax the largest payment the company Ayer Panas ($5) ... has ever been required to make. At the end of his report on the Kamaro (32) South Australian railways, Mr. P. A. | Kodub ($1) ... Anthony, of the F.M.S. railways, Kelezak R. (35) says: It is pointed out that the causes which are adversely affecting the net revenue of the railways are the increases in the cost of fuel, labour, and materials. The average annual earnings per employee exclu- sive of over time, have increased as follows in the traffic department; wages in 1907.8, £135; 1916-7μ2154. Locomotive and carriage department, 1907-8 £130; 1915-17, £164. Engi neering, 1907-8 £120; 1916-17, 2159. Another very important factor is the large increase in railway mileage during the period 1909-1918 the total Pantal (81) mileage completed by the State was | Parit Fork (#1) .... .: 841.
